About The Lantzair Flyers

The Lantzair Flyers were founded in 1991 by Lavern Lantz, a former school teacher and home designer/builder from Delafield, WI. He was soon joined by his friend Carl Scheid, a systems engineer also from Delafield, and with the help and support of their wives, they embarked upon the craziest scheme they could have thought of to date, building a 225 mph airplane by hand!

Four years and many skinned knuckles later, they were joined by other would-be airplane builders and so a "Homebuilt Flying Club" began to emerge. After completing and flying the first airplane in 1995, a Lancair 360, they embarked on a second, much bigger project, a Lancair IV.
